7 Great Blogging Tips For Beginners

Blogging is a great way to share your thoughts with others and spread information to readers. The fun part about it, is that you can blog about anything you want! The topic choice is all up to you. Of course that doesn't mean just because you blog about "Cool New Socks" that everyone will want to read about it, but still it is your choice. Whether you are blogging just because you want to share information or you are doing it to create a profit and deliver good content to your readers, the basics still apply to both.

I wanted to create a list of basic tips for bloggers who are just starting, or even haven't started at all but are interested. So let's get on with the basic bloggin tips for beginners.

1. First of course you need to find a service to start blogging with. The two most popular services are Blogger and WordPress. Both are great websites to use (I will create a post in the future about the differences), but the big difference is that Blogger provides AdSense integration and is very user friendly. So this is great for someone who knows nothing about blogging and wants to be able to make money with their blog. WordPress.com blogs are great but they do not have the ability to use advertisements. So choose either "profit" or "no profit".

2. Choose your topic. Once again, the topic choice is yours but if you are looking to get a lot of readers, then you will want something that attracts visitors to your blog. Choose a niche that you have and can share with others. Something you are passionate about will show greatly to your readers and will make your blog more personal and interesting. You do not want to choose a topic that you know nothing about because you will not be able to create useful posts and the blog will seem boring.

3. Create a good title and description. This is a very important step because you want your title to stand out. Keep it short and simple. Your description is very crucial because this is what visitors will first see when arriving at your blog and it is what search engines will show. Keep your description within the character limit. Do not overdo it and explain your site in huge detail so that everything is given away and your readers are left not curious. Be short but descriptive and use proper grammar. A blog with a long description scares me away usually, because it seems like the author is begging me to read it all.

4. Choosing a good layout. The layout of your blog is very important because it is the shell of it all and it is what readers always see. A visual impact is important when creating a blog. You do not want to have a layout with bright neon colors everywhere so that it blinds the reader. Try to keep the color scheme blended well so that it pleases the reader's eyes and does not drive them away. Images are great to have so that your blog seems more full and less boring. It gives people something to look at along with the text. So simple, clean, and uncluttered is definitely the way to go when choosing your layout. Color Scheme Designer is a great free tool for this job.

5. Content. As always content is king. Publishing great posts is easy if you take your time, be descriptive and creative, and provide interesting content. Posts that take forever to read, can scare away readers because most have a short reading span. So don't bore your readers with a 5 page story, unless it is necessary and part of your niche.

6. Attract visitors to your blog. This can be the most frustrating part of it all because you spend all that time making posts but do not see anyone reading or subscribing. It is not an easy task to gather up thousands of readers, daily, or even monthly. Be sure to spread the word about your blog without spamming it. Include your blog URL in forum signatures, participate in discussions at other blogs, use Twitter and Facebook, use content sharing websites, and research SEO. These are just a few out of the many ways to increase your visitor count. Check out SEOmoz.org to learn about SEO and be sure to use their helpful free tools.

7. Patience! The last and most important tip for creating a successful blog is to be patient. It takes time to gain subscribers and for your blog to rank high, so don't get frustrated or give up just because you are not #1 in a month. Hard work pays off, and it will show if you keep blogging the right way.

I hope this list helps out a lot of people who are interested in blogging and inspires others. I will be writing more posts about blogging, AdSense, and SEO in the future. Be sure to share this article so that others can learn!

Three Basic SEO Tips Bloggers Shouldn't Avoid!

Three Basic SEO Tips Bloggers Shouldn't Avoid!
SEO or search engine optimization is a very crucial yet critical aspect for every blogger. Firstly, it is not an easy thing to do. SEO indeed takes some time to learn. This is where it gets scary for most newbie bloggers. The very term search engine optimization sounds all too techy and the associated methods and complications add to their fear and confusion. This is totally normal and understandable.

But at the same time, we as bloggers, should understand that SEO is not something that we should be scared of. Actually the basics are still the basics, they are quite simple and they don't change much often with the search engine algorithm updates. I mean, there is much less to worry about this way.

So, what are the basic and most crucial SEO tips every blogger should take care of?Here we go!

Keywords

Doing keyword research is the basic and most effective tip when it comes to doing SEO. I would say that this is where the whole of SEO is based on. If you don't pick the right keywords and if you don't create content around those keywords, you cannot accomplish two things:

You cannot target your readers.

You cannot work on improving your search engine visibility.
As you can see, the second is the ultimate purpose of SEO and the first is the whole purpose of "why" you are trying to do SEO in the first place!

So do not ignore keyword research. Use a free or a paid keyword research tool and pick out the right keywords. Apart from the above mentioned reasons, you should also do keyword research because keywords are the queries your target customers/readers type into the search boxes if they need a solution to a problem or if they need more information. So keywords help you to get to know your customers much better!

SEO content creation

Now that you've done your keyword research it is time to create content around those keywords your unearthed. Those keywords are precious assets; so go build useful and applicable content around those keywords.

While you are at it, don't forget to optimize your blog posts for those keywords. Use the keyword in the title of your post/page (preferably near the start), spread your keywords (main and semantic ones) throughout your article in a quite gently manner, so that it doesn't sound too spammy. Also do provide a good, keyword optimized

SEO meta title and description.

Link building

This is quite a controversial topic, especially after the latest algo updates by Google. But still, links that are generated in a purely white-hat manner surely do matter to boost your search engine rankings.

You can build links to any post or page in your blog/website in a white hat way through blog commenting, guest posting and a little bit of genuine article marketing. More than that, if your content is extraordinary and of great quality you can also get some natural links (others linking to your content) without you doing anything.

Takeaway

Although it is totally understandable that the SEO game is ever changing, white hat SEO and the basics of SEO are still the same. If you do things the white hat way, you should be scared about doing SEO or be worried about search engine algo updates. The basics are very crucial and if they're done in a consistent and correct manner SEO should be painless.

For those of you who rely on bloggers as a web media platforms of your online business, then you need to optimize your blogspot website. Because as we know together that blogspot's less SEO friendly, but very good for all who want to start an online business with free.

Here are simple tips that I have to help you optimize your blogspot on every title of the article to be more friendly to search engines. All you have to do is to add a simple line of code in the blogspot article title template code that you currently use. Here's the simple code I mean:

expr:title='data:post.title'

How to add the code is as follows:

1). Go to the Edit HTML page in your dashboard.

2). Find this code:

expr:href='data:post.link'

3). Change the code becomes

expr:href='data:post.link' expr:title='data:post.title'

4). Save the results of your editing

Now try to slide your mouse on one of your blogspot article titles. You'll see a tooltip title of the article.

This is almost the same way as we create a link that is anchor text. At the time of the search engines crawling your blog, each article title will be seen as an anchor text to seo friendly.

SEO For Google

SEO For Google

Google page rank is determined by a number of factors:

SEO keywords
SEO content
SEO domain name
Originality of content
Number of links from external sites

Original Content

Having original content on your site is a no-brainer. It is the "why" that escapes many SEO web content developers. We have all seen the ads promising "150000 AdSense and SEO optimized pages". If it were this easy, all of us would be multi-millionaires by now. The reality is, Googlebot applies a penalty for non-original content, no mater how SEO you might think the page is. Think about it - why does "Nike.com" come up number 1 when you type Nike into Google? You or I could probably write a better SEO page about Nike than Nike.com. In fact, Nike.com keyword density for "Nike" is 0%!!!

Links from External Sites

Google take into account the number of links you have from external sites. Each link is like a "vote" for your site. Before you go and sign up for a link exchange program, consider this, some links do not count, in fact, being a "link spammer" can kill your ranking, no matter how good your SEO.

There are ways to generate quality back links:

Create a blog on blogspot.com (a Google Site) and write about your web page - include properly formatted links
Join blogs on respected sites and comment on articles, putting your URL in your signature
Write "press releases" when you update your site and post them on the free press release sites around the web
Take out classified ads in respected on-line newspapers
Make small donations to charity sites that keep a "Thank You" page and include your web site with your name
These are just some tips to compliment your SEO work to get a good Google ranking.

SEO for keywords and content is relatively easy. Choose your keyword. Write content around that keyword. Use an SEO optimizer program to make sure you have done it right.

Long gone are the days of writing unrelated content, and then typing "Britney Spears" 100 times at the end of the article. Today's search engine spiders can spot the "Black Hat" SEO techniques a mile away, and your site can be banned for life.

Here are a few tips for SEO optimization:

Be focussed in your meta keywords - 1 to 3 SEO optimized keywords is enough
Put your keyword at the beginning of you page title tag.
Make sure you title tag is the first tag in the head section
Make sure your keyword appears in the alt tag for images and in link text, but no more than 3 times
Put your keyword in bold
Put your keyword in the H1 section of your page, and H2 if you can
Have a keyword weigh in your article between 3-6% (higher is "keyword spamming")
SEO for domain names
Going back to the Nike.com example from my "SEO for Google" article. Since the keyword weight is 0%, how does nike.com get to billing when you search for them? Easy, Google gives a rank weight to domain names.

Make sure your primary domain name reflects the main purpose of your site (domain SEO). This site, for example, is all about my desire to "retire with millions". The site is subdivided in to many SEO optimized sub-domains each with a URL that denotes the sections. For example, all my SEO articles are in a sub-directory called ../seo.

Many articles have been written about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for Google. Google is the largest search engine (for now) and getting your SEO right for the Googlebot can make your site top ten site getting millions of hits a day. On the other hand, poor SEO and your site may never be ranked and your campaigns for Adsence will never net you any real money. Even worse, bad SEO might mean that your cutting edge product is un-findable by your customers.
